Arts Combo: Sculpting and Journaling
Explore the creative possibilities of 3D sculpture and mixed media art journaling in a class that brings together hands-on construction, design, and visual storytelling.
Students will create 3–4 original sculptures while learning a variety of techniques, including Giacometti-inspired armatures, free-form wire sculpture, and papier-mâché. Along the way, they’ll explore acrylic painting, colour mixing, and Zentangle-inspired patterns to add colour, texture, and detail to their work.
Mixed media art journaling complements the sculpture projects, giving students another way to develop and record their ideas. Techniques may include Gelli printing, collage, handmade stamps, stencils, decorative lettering, and simple bookbinding.
With guidance and room for individual expression, students build practical skills while learning to experiment with materials, develop original ideas, and bring their creative vision to life.
Pre-requisite
Previous drawing experience is helpful but not required. Open to students interested in sculpture, mixed media, and creative exploration.
