ABCs of Drawing: Art Meets Early Literacy
ABCs of Drawing is a playful introduction to art and early literacy designed especially for young artists ages 4–5. Using visual vocabulary of simple lines and shapes, children learn to draw recognizable images while making meaningful connections between letters, sounds, and pictures. Songs, movement, stories, and hands-on activities bring each lesson to life and make learning feel natural and fun. Through progressive, step-by-step projects, students also explore colour, texture, and a variety of art materials. Along the way, they strengthen fine motor skills, focus, confidence, and their ability to follow directions—all while discovering the joy of creating and learning through art. Required studio materials are provided for use during class. Artwork is completed throughout the term, creating a colourful collection that celebrates each child's learning and creativity.
